I've had fantastic managers who were terrible in the field. I've had people promoted to trainers who were great in the filed - made horrible teachers.
Obviously the best mix is people who were successful at sales and decide to teach.
That said, customers chose the value of something. If they don't find value they'll ask for a refund. If no refund is given they tend to charge back the transaction.
