Health Plan Options to Expand On State's Online Marketplace | TheLedger.com

About a dozen health insurers filed documents by Friday's federal deadline indicating they intend to sell marketplace plans in Florida next year. The list includes returning big players like Florida Blue, Aetna, Cigna and Humana, as well as United Healthcare, which did not participate in the marketplace this year. Each insurer can sell multiple types of plans, and rates can vary across the state.

Other insurers that have filed notices to sell plans include Coventry Health Care of Florida, Preferred Medical Plan, Sunshine State Health Plans, Health First Health Plans, Health First Insurance Inc., Time Insurance Inc., and Health Options, which is a Florida Blue-affiliated com*pany.

To date, only two insurers have disclosed their 2015 rate proposals. Humana proposed an average 14.1 percent increase in two separate filings for its health maintenance organizations (HMOs), while its preferred provider organizations (PPO) have a 2.2 percent average rate increase. Molina has proposed an 11.6 percent average rate decrease for all its plans.

Florida Blue would not reveal its proposed 2015 rates, which were submitted to state regulators last month. State officials are expected to disclose the rates for the nearly dozen carriers in the marketplaceat the end of July. Open enrollment begins Nov. 15 and goes through Feb. 15.

This is just a thought....looking at the glass 1/2 full, with these rate increases: Where our commissions are to go down for the 2nd year with ACA plans, the rate increase may actually maintain our commissions about the same.

;)

You don't get paid on the increase, only original premium. But nice try. CEP = commission eligible premium. Look it up
