Florida Med-Supp Agents....

For those getting excited about Bankers Life & Casualty no longer being in the Med Supp business down in Florida, you should check back on the DOI website under Colonial Penn. Since Conseco owns both, they are going to use the first wave of filings under Colonial Penn. Most BL&C agents are already appointed with Colonial Penn, so it will be seamless for them. Sorry about the bad news.

I use to write med-supps for them back in the 1980's. Good company.

I didn't realize Colonial Penn was back in the med-supp market in Florida....or, is trying. Looking at the FL. DOI, they've had nothing approved for accident or health products, since at least 2001. Already disapproved once for med-supp filing for the modernized plans from January 4th. Refiled February 25th. Good luck.

Rates for plan F are filed as higher(by about $10-15 a month in certain areas of Florida), than a T65 female rate with MoO and T65's w/AARP.

On a side note: There's another company(shall remain unnamed), I use to write for that pulled all of their products out of Florida 1-2 years ago. I think I understand why now.

Lol, who got excited about them getting out of the market. In all honestly I love BL&C. They have one of the highest rates and I love rewriting them with MoO or UHC.

For MoO, look under file #10-02277. For UnitedHealthcare, look under file #10-03425. Scroll down to rate schedule for 6-1-2010....click it. Scroll back up...hit submit request...type in your email address and hit send. Give it a few minutes and you should have it.

I did find where TransAmerica Life filed for the modernized plans in Florida in early January and they were approved February 19th, 2010. They are not available for agents to sell. Rates are competitive...right there with MoO and AARP...actually slightly less expensive in the area I live in..for plans C and F.

Smart of them to apply in early January. Colonial Penn filed early too, but was denied and had to refile.

Thank you much

UHC rates on that website don't seem to give the zips. It only gives "area 1, area 2, etc..". How can I tell what the rates are for the zips

Go to file# 10-03425....check the box for "Request a PDF of all documents in this filing"....click "submit requests"....type in your email address....click submit. Then after they send it to your email address...download it.....then look on page 8(rates), and then pages 23-25 and it gives the zip codes and which area the zip codes are in.

It's the same areas that the zip codes previously went to, before they filed for the modernized plans.

Also....I've seen turtles move as fast as these plans with each company are being approved in Florida. Almost 2 months and still no end in sight.

AARP is down to about 3 weeks and their out of Florida, until the modernized plans are approved. IF they are.

United American got their modernized plans approved in Florida. They join TransAmerica Life as the only 2 companies approved, so far, in Florida.

Mutual Of Omaha is still going around with Mrs. Ziegler.:goofy:

AARP may be getting close to an approval.

Bankers agents are like the homeless...always looking for coverage. I was one of them before Conseco took them down. Colonial Penn like Gerber....another shell for companies who cannot keep it up.

Looks like Mutual of Omaha is finally at decision time. Unfortunately the darn boxes you check to get the correspondence.....isn't being sent to me when I request an email on it.

Maybe the offer was a slight rate increase? I'm not sure until I can read the information...

When I checked the Forum this morning I had to clean off my glasses. Thought I was suffering from that double vision... Nobody in the history of this Forum has posted as much as Medicareguy has within the past 24 hours. So, this weeks Forum Award  goes to Medicareguy!
