Florida Questions Regarding Appointments

No, I am sorry I didn't mean for it to come off as a prank. I am not for sure what you meant from the other comment. Bliss and Gennon are only for surplus lines (ex: LLOYDS)? I just didnt understand the difference between insurance-noodle and Bliss and Gennon?

I am currently a direct writer for commercial P&C insurance company. I am looking into starting my own agency. I want to be able to have access to carriers like FCCI, Zurich, Safeco, United Fire, Hanover, Old Dominion.....
1) How do I get appointed by these insurance companies? Steps...

2) I have heard of companies that keep a very small percentage of your commission and pay dues and you can keep your book. Good way to have access to competitive rates. Please help with advice?

If you are a new agent forget it. Unless you are married to the decision maker at these carriers, you won't get appointed.

Your best bet would be to join a network such as Premier Agents Group, SIAA, etc...

FL is a tough environment for start-ups. I remember when I did it.

B&G also has some admitted markets. You just have to dig a little deeper.

FLInsa, I wanted to thank you for responding to my quote. I had some questions about companies like Premier Agents Group and SIAA... Do you own your book? Do they just take a cut of the commission? How they work? Are they easy to get appointed by. I would really appreciate being able to talk with you over the phone. It would really mean a lot for me to be able to speak with someone that understands my situation. I am not able to PM yet if you could send me a message.

Thank you for your time and patience.

You do own your book. THey will appoint anyone. As soon as you get a good enough book of business, go to the carriers you were writing with through them and ask for an appointment.
