FMO's Are People Too

Most insurance companies don't contract directly with brokers. Field Market Organizers do just that. I see a whole lot of value in what a good FMO brings to the table. I won't list the job description of the FMO but I assure you that the list is long and challenging.

My question to brokers on the forum is "does loyalty matter"

From the or the agent?

Earned loyalty. I salute the uniform or I salute then.

C'mon man, you're getting close to the tipping point of a "whiny" post. Nobody's having a gun held to their head to be an FMO. If you they don't like the "challenges", they don't have to do it!

Loyalty matters, but it doesn't trump my bank account. Here's what matters; phone calls/emails returned, help when you need it etc.

Only if deserved. I'm able to overlook occasional mistakes, especially when they admit they screwed up.

I'm a very loyal person, but I have to be loyal to myself and my family first. For that reason, I won't put all my eggs with one FMO.

Not really.

Then again, many people want/need help when starting. If you get valuable help I suppose you should be somewhat loyal. When I started doing annuities they were all over me trying to help and 'run cases' or whatever wacky term they used. I was like, get away.

You look like you may have a problem with your eyes. have you looked into that.

Many FMO's don't so anything to earn their money, therefore asking about loyalty is subjective. I choose to work with organizations where I know if I need something or have questions they will respond in a timely manner.

Actually with FE most companies WILL contract directly with the agent. It's the FMO's job to give the agent more than he can get direct. That's the only way the FMO is worth anything.

I've been screwed by a couple of FMOs who think they are doing us a favor by allowing us to contract with them. Marketers like RBI (Bob Bever) and Applied General Agencies (Patrick Rodriguez) ask as if they own us. No releases are a big issue with marketers like that.

Now I'm more careful who I do business with. Reputation does mean a great deal and this forum is a good place to see the good vs. the bad.

I do not work for the FMO. The FMO works for me. The FMO does not pay commission to us, we pay part of the total commission to the FMO. Never forget that.

Rick

I'm loyal and willing to look past mistakes. The lack of follow up from FMO's is frustrating, but it's my job to be persistent. Getting bent over is a whole different story.
