Unusual situation referred to me by agent in another state.

MIL relocated to Atlanta from Pakistan. Green card holder. Age 71. Health status unknown (didn't ask). Looking a possible options. Coming up empty or "r u kidding".

Medicaid - possibly the best option depending on how they define household income.

Obamacare - I assume she can qualify but no subsidy. Outrageous premiums and OOP

International travel medical - pre-ex snake pit

Health share ministy - must be Christian? other religious affinity including Muslim? pre-ex? Not readily accepted by docs/hospitals since no guarantee of payment. HSM is a very remote possibility but want to throw that out as an option.

Doesn't matter but only one where I could be compensated is international travel. Because of the p-x issue I doubt I want to be agent on that plan.

Did you look at a Bridge Major Medical Insurance Plan, like the one offered by piu.org? But it is underwritten.

And I've heard Tokyo Marine offers something similar, but I know nothing else about it.

Petersen International Underwriters, San Diego Ca... Bridge Plan for foreign nationals awaiting Medicare. Why on earth should the good folks in Georgia pay for this person to go on Medicaid? Only drawback with their plan is any pre-existing condition

Have not looked at Bridge. Just looked and it has same p-x limitations as international medical. Policy terms up to 364 days.
Bridge Major Medical Insurance Plan

Have access to Tokio international medical. Policy term limit.

But thanks for the ideas.

Don't even know if she will qualify.

Not my circus.

Not my monkeys.

GA taxpayers only fund half the cost of Medicaid. The rest is free courtesy of the DC printing press and Democrat Socialists who want everything to be free.

Bridge plan is open to renewals each year. Some illnesses are treated as pre-existing each year that you reapply. worked well for a customer from India

Thanks.

Will pass this along to the person.

I won't be the agent.

This thing seems to be a problem looking for a home.

Depending on how long she had her Green Card, Medicaid may not be an option either.

Two weeks

BTW, I am not ADVISING, just throwing out ideas to the family. Let them decide. Told them I would not be the agent on any of the plans. They can pick and enroll direct if they want.
