After reviewing commissions on one of my rarely used carriers (only 12 enrollees), I noticed that the commission payment was a bit lower this month and it was due to one of the members dropping off. I logged into Sherp and saw that the members plan was canceled last month for not providing substantiation on his "claimed" income of $12,000/yr. The subsidy he had covered the entire premium of his silver plan.
I tried to call the guy, but his phone was disconnected. So I googled his name and found out that a month ago he was accused of intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances! Evidently he was part of a ring and was still wanted by the police.
I bet they were illegally signing up for health plans with zero premium, getting scrips for controlled substances/pain meds and selling them.
