Hi Everyone,

I am glad that I found this forum, a lot of useful tips and information for the agents.

I am from Hong Kong, a registered insurance agent and an underwriter of an insurance company specializing in car insurance. Selling insurance online is not very popular over here and there are not many sites you can go to look up for information.

:idea:So I have this idea of opening a blog like website educating people about the car insurance in Hong Kong and selling my own in the process. But I am not sure where to start, what obstacles I will face, do I have to leave my job as an underwriter and do it independently, should my website be specific to car insurance only.:embarrassed:

You advice will be greatly appreciated. :)

While I have no idea about the rules and regulations about holding your position as an underwriter and simultaneously writing insurance in Hong Kong, I do know that your basic idea of starting a blog about car insurance is solid. That's basically what I've done with Georgia Insurance Options (with health) and the results have been pretty solid.

Hi souldeux,

Thanks. I ve seen your website, very clean and informative, infact i got the idea from your website. You recommend to use GoDaddy.com and Host Gator. Can i use them for my domain name as well or i have to contact some local company for it?

godaddy offers domain names also.

If you look on top of the forum, most of the time, you will see a link to get cheap domain names from godaddy.

I know that both GoDaddy and Host Gator are great in the US and in Canada, but not sure about your area. I know you wouldn't have any problems buying the domain through GoDaddy out there, at least. When you loaded my website, did it come up fairly quickly and without problems? If so, then I'd imagine you'd be okay with Host Gator, too. That's who hosts Georgia Insurance Options, and if you can access it quickly and easily out there, it stands to reason that you wouldn't have trouble hosting it there, either.

Of course, your mileage may vary - I've never tried it.

Oh, and thank you for the compliment! :)
