Go Independent

I am leaving the agency and going on my own but i can't work with the insurance companies because they claim i need to get a release from the agency or wait 3 months what can I do? Also if a agency cancel the contract is that to be considered the same as releasing the agent? Please help.

Three months is a short release, they can be 6 months or even longer. With most companies a release is different than having someone cancel your contract. Usually once they've cancelled the contract you'd still need to wait whatever the waiting period is.
Sometimes the organization your going to would have a reciprocal agreement with the one your with to release you sooner. Some agents will either start selling other companies or products in order to wait that out. So if you've been selling UHC and Pyramid you might switch to selling Aetna and Arcadian or switch from life insurance and go to annuities or LTC etc.
If you want to send me an e-mail we can go over it in more detail. If you can't e-mail me, just visit my site and shoot me a message and I can get back to you.
Hope this helps.

Sounds like you have a 90 day compete. Best thing I could suggest is to work through it or work with your current agency to release you.

Check your states Law Code on employment practices. Many states do no recognize a non-compete because it limits the ability of the individual to earn a living. A good bluff though for most people. Check the code, print it off, and then take it to your Agency Manager.
