I have an app that has been in underwriting Since the 8th... Waiting on 'public records' for over 10 days. Nothing I saw was unusual ab applicant... What kind of triggers are there for public records? What IS public records? Anyone else have it take a long time for simplified issue?
Just fishing for some info is all... I haven't had a case take this long before.
Thanks for any and all info,
Jim

When I see public records I think of criminal background. DUI, Misdemeanors, Felony. Speeding Tickets, parking tickets, they want an idea of the person's character if you will. This definitely can take up to 2-3 weeks

Yes, simplified issue. It has really struck me as odd that it would/could take 2 or more weeks. All questions were no, script check and DMV were good. Going on 11 days for public records

Would they could they take it upon themselves to underwrite further?

You should ask your client if the phone interviewer quizzed him about any past meds he took. Specifically any meds that would treat a condition on the first section of the app. Your client will probably remember it, and then say "But I haven't taken that in a long time, it gave me bad dreams and made me feel funny". (Last refill 4 months ago).

What company are you writing with? About half the companies that claim to be in the FE business are not really in the FE business. Sounds like you are using one of them.

Public Record. I would guess something popped on the MIB or MVR

I'd suspect the same. A criminal records check in some states can really take awhile. Or possibly they are pursuing MIB code details from another company, where you are now held up and waiting on them. They have 28 days I believe to respond, if not, them MIB itself will step in and "encourage" them.

How old is the client your are writing? GPM absolutely conducts a MVR for all applicants applying for the Secure Mark 20-49 SIWL. This can delay if you did not include the Drivers License # on the application and they have to get that information in their post sale interview...

If your applicant is 50-85, then something must have popped in the MIB and maybe they said something to trigger a MVR.

Rule of thumb for GPM.

20-49 - GPM Always conduct MVR
50-85 - GPM does not conduct MVR unless red flags are raised in Post Sale Interview.

He is under 49. I included the dl number, the MVR was complete in 2 days, then the public records were requested on the 10th.

Thanks for that info though, I wondered why they didn't ask about the dl of the over 50 one I did.

Thanks for all of the responses. I guess, it's all good if it's part of the norm.

Jim
