Royal Neighbors of America Raises...

So what I hear you saying is that you sent crap business to RNA.

HMMM.... Maybe they want some business that is profitable.... just saying.

The Skipper
I feel that all business is profitable, whether it's 3k, 5k or 25k. A 25k policy can lapse just as easily as a 5k policy.

I've written plenty of 5k policies that are still on the books.

Administratively, it costs just as much to process a $3K app as it does a $25K app. Perhaps they have found that the smaller apps just aren't profitable because of the lower premium amounts.

As clueless as I think some of these companies are times they are able to see things in a far larger sample size than any single agent.

I think companies like Royal neighbors have pretty good analytical data and when they make these kind of decisions they are profit driven and well thought out.

Or, could it possibly be that we're giving their upper management a little to much credit, and that they're simply in financial trouble, and need all the incoming premium that they can get - thus the reason for them raising the minimum and maximum on their "bread & butter" product at the same time.

Or perhaps they're not in financial trouble at all, and this is simply a way of manipulating agents into submitting more 7-10K policies.

If I was a gambling man, I would bet that they aren't doing too well with all of their other products. Especially those "garbage" Jet products, and this is just a way - "slick way" - for them to increase their revenues.

Maybe good for the uninsured, as most health plans offer it free right now, or $5-$10.
