Greetings from PA

Hi, This is a great board, so I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I have 25 years of sales experience and have been looking at changing industries. I've looked in to insurance on and off over the last couple of years and have interviewed with Allstate (captive) - I decided it wasnt the right route for me. But I do think insurance is a great business!
I'm planning on getting licensed this quarter, then take some time to educate myself (this forum has some excellent info!). My initial plan is to focus on Health only first, then either add life or build a referral ciricle and pass leads back and forth with another (life) agent.
I currently work from home, so I will investigate the viability of keeping my current position while I ramp up in insurance.

I live in Bucks County, PA so feel free to drop me line if you're close (or far!).

My advice (unsolicited of course) would be to start with the over 65, Medicare supplement stuff.

Way too much uncertainty regarding under 65 health insurance at this point to make any significant investment in it as a market, if you're smart. You don't want to be in too deep if you are legislated out of business!

You can always go back and add it (under 65) later on, if needed/favorable.

I thought that was only your advice for new Tampa agents

No, Orlando too, hahaha...

I do not think it's prudent for anyone new to be making a major investment in this market - at this time. Some of us are in too deep of course, but the uncertainties, I feel are far too great for the newer agent.

If I were starting, I'd get real good at the Medicare stuff - under 65 can always be added later if events break favorably.
