Halloween Mask

Ah the old wait list/travelling to other countries because of a single payer health system BS. It's not the system, it's Canada being fiscally conservative. The myth has been debunked so many times. Read something besides mainstream media drivel. I mean, it sounds like you guys think any benefit to the working poor is straight up communism. And yeah, no shit healthcare is expensive...but look at what hospital monopolies and duopolies get away with charging for something like bandages. You might be okay with paying (or your insurance paying) $2,500 for basic amenities in a hospital. I'm not. They're making huge profits because nothing has reined them in. Profit is one thing, but applying venture capitalism to our health system is absurd.

I was sitting next to the 2 couples in a restaurant in Ottawa. Debunk their complaints and concerns. I listened without interruption to their complaints for over 1/2 hour. I never identified myself or that I was from the US.
We had universal healthcare in the US before the ACA. it was called not for profit hospitals. If you showed up needing care you were treated and released. As the hoops needed to jump through in order to get paid have increased, and the number of lawsuits have increased, the ability to get paid has decreased and hospitals and physicians have been forced to charge more. I never said I like it or agree with it but a single payer is absolutely NOT the way to go in health insurance.

It's anecdotal evidence. I once sat next to a group of people at a restaurant convinced that they were ushering in the apocalypse. Scary? Maybe. But I'm not going around telling people it's the end of days. And again, it's not really a critique of the system but the way Canada has implemented it.

After I identified myself, because I could not stomach their nonsense any longer, they told me of how many people in Canada are not happy with the system but that is all which is offered unless they go with private insurance which is very expensive. My days in Ottawa were enlightening because I saw their Tomb of Unknowns NOT guarded and thought of our own in Washington which is guarded through hurricanes. My son was then stationed Kuwait in 100*plus heat but their military was too cold to honor their dead. Move there if you wish, I'm pretty happy here and I'll pay and enjoy our healthcare
