Handyman Liability

I have a client that does work as a handyman. When he came to me, he had a personal umbrella with Navigators that he believed was covering his work exposure. I assured him that it wasn't.

A GL policy for him is going to cost $1500+ which is nearly $1k more than he pays for his personal umbrella.

Does anyone know of a personal umbrella that would pick up this type of commercial exposure or another option to get him cheap liability coverage?

Unfortunately his past agent taught him that he should be getting a $1 million commercial policy for around $500 per year.

I will second BTIS. I think some of their stuff is UW through Navigators, but that might just be the Bonds aspect.

An excess lines carrier probably would. I don't think an admitted/in-house carrier would touch this risk.

As someone previously suggested, try Western Heritage. I've had success with them before in E&S situations.

I got a quote at $803 with BTIS. Still more than he wants to pay but at least I had something to offer.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
