Health Insurance Across State Lines, Competition, and Premiums

Re: Health Insurance Across State Lines, Competition, and Premium

I won't weigh into the political side of it, and Joe's $100, $300, $200 premium calc is an oversimplification. But I will say this.

If legislation is enacted in any form that resembles the bulk of what is proposed at this time, individual major med rates for most will increase dramatically. In some cases doubling.

Individuals in GI, community rated states will not see as much movement and in some cases may drop slightly.

But this has nothing to do with interstate sales. Rather it has to do with the mandates in the bills including GI, community rating, mental health parity, "no cost sharing" preventive care, expanded preventive care benefits, etc.
