"Add value, ask questions, don't spam"

That is a great formula. Of course, I have to admit that the cat-fights and spam do make things interesting around here.

I do have one question for Chumps...

Do you actually use insurance leads currently to generate business for your agency?

As for me, I've been in the lead industry for several years, most of which was spent as the primary developer of an insurance lead broker. During that time I saw the whole inter-workings of the lead industry from the lead seller's point of view. I also heard the most common complaints and problems that agents had.

I no longer work with the lead provider whose system I originally built, but now have my own company (www.dialyourleads.com) where we are trying to solve some of the problems I learned about at the former company, most critically: just getting prospects on the phone!

Creating a live transfer system for real-time leads was an interesting technical challenge and I'm very happy that it is actually working for agents, some of which receive several transfers per day. This new business was literally just an idea a few short months ago! A forum, such as this, that is about insurance leads, seems like a good place for us to discuss the potential benefits of a system like ours for agents, especially since a lot of agents do not have very good success with leads if they do not work them properly.

Sorry Chumps...

After reading some of your other posts it looks like you do in fact use leads for your agency.

Let me ask you this question instead:

What percentage of your leads do you estimate that you actually talk to?

mf...First of all, unfortunately, my "agency" is just me. Re the leads...I end up talking to about 30% of the leads I purchase, and about 10% of the leads the websites generate.

Of course, I email 100% of them, so I assume you are talking about phone contact.

That's a pretty good contact rate. To achieve that I'm guessing you do work your leads well.

Do you use any lead management tools to help organize your leads and send those emails?

Also, I bet that your experience with leads does show that, while internet leads are not a marketing panacea, some of the leads are good and if followed up on quickly can be converted into new clients.

I try to call them within a few minutes of when I receive the quote request. And a few additional times within the first 10 days.

I use an autoresponder which helps increase the contact rate. I also think that since most of my purchased leads are within 75 miles of me, they know I'm not an out-of-state call center.

Re Internet leads...like a lot of people on this Forum...I use less and less each year. There are some great ones...but many are questionable at best.
