Help! Client with Hepatitis C

There is absolutely nothing wrong with politely telling someone that you can't help them because it wouldn't generate sufficient revenue. Sure, you won't earn any karma, and you might miss out on some referrals or cross-sells, but it isn't wrong.

What is wrong is placing someone into an inappropriate product to maximize your income. If someone really belongs with a carrier that pays you less, but you put them with a higher paying carrier that is inappropriate for them, then that is most definitely wrong!

Hepatits C is not an automatic decline. If he is "fully" recovered with negative tests over 5 years ago then you can put him with Aetna. Yes, this is correct in the past month Aetna has accepted 2 of my clients with a 20% rate up.

I'd be surprised if someone with Hepatitis C was "fully recovered"...

I was surprised also but it's a fact so just trying to help. I guess when they say fully recovered they mean an undectable viral load.

Could be some state by state variations. I haven't seen this to be the case with any carrier Hep C is treated on the same level as HIV for underwriting purposes - it doesn't get much more severe.

This client could go to the Texas High Risk Pool - agent will eventually get $50 for referral and if the client has prior coverage without a 63 day gap they will waive the standard 12 month pre ex.

The risk pool is administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas.

PCIP - No pre ex. Must have no coverage in past 6 months

Texas High Risk Pool - 12 month pre ex with gap in coverage, waived with prior coverage.

This is because we (Texas) didn't agree to the integrate the Federal pool - we have the federal AND state pool.

I think we really need a third pool? LOL...

Anyhow you will be doing your prospect a favor with a proper recommendation. Enjoy the $50. No appointment necessary btw, just a license number.

How do you have time to even contemplate working on a case like that? serious question. when I get those phone calls, I run away as fast as possible- or else I'm unemployed.
You're unemployed now, you don't have the sense to know that with that type of attitude you'll be chasing and buying leads the rest of your short career.
