Help Me Squash This

Ok, there is a story floating around my neck of the woods that there have been recent changes to close the "family trap" that will now include the 9.5% income rule for spousal costs as well. (As opposed to current EE costs). Since no one has posted it here, and google isn't turning anything up, I am assuming that there is no truth to this.

Please confirm.

Great references Dave.

There is a bill floating around to fix the glitch, but it's by no means law.
https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/113/s2434 is the main page for the bill Dave referenced, indicating a 0% chance of enactment, and referencing a new (near identical) replacement bill by the same name, H.R. 4865.

That, too, has a 0% chance of being enacted or getting past committee: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/113/hr4865#overview

Basically, both change the "self-only" affordability test, to the "family" premium. Problem is, they fail to address Couples or Parent/Child situations- both (by the way the law is written) would be calculated by family premium, raising pretty obvious issues.

So, to answer your question, there is no truth to a fix. A bad idea was proposed and shot down before it ever got brought out. They changed the name, and it got shot down again, because it's still bad. They then gave up.
