I see this punt as pro-agent. The more confusion created, and the more differences in the state marketplaces......the more they need us.

HHS Gives States Flexibility On Health Law's 'Essential Benefits' - Kaiser Health News
Instead of one national standard, states will be able to design benchmark plans based on one of four choices: The benefits offered in one of the three largest federal employee plans (by enrollment), one of the three largest plans offered to their state employees, one of the three largest small-business plans in the state or the plan offered by the largest HMO in the state.

So, there basically is no law. The law that passed isn't even a semblance of what we have now. Waivers have been granted and entire provisions of the act have been pulled back.

The law clearly defined the myriad of benefits each plan must have to qualify to be in the exchange. So, really, what's left of the original law?

Exactly, we're right back to the existing market we have in place now. Boneheads I tell ya!

What will be the ultimate end to this is the pull-back on the subsidies. This only works when people are varies percentages of FLP get steep subsidies, which as we all know cannot be funded. There is no money.

They were gonna tax Cadillac plans and that got pulled back. They were going to force businesses to submit itemized 1099's and that got pulled back, etc...There really is no funding source.

THis is FUBAR!

Everyone has been waiting on the Essential Benefits to come out from from the Fed. This changes everything!

I agree the agent's role is going to be even more important.

I came into these forums knowing nothing really about Healthcare reform. I still know nothing about it, but it's fun to interact with people that do.
