Hitting 1MM In Business

Congratulations nyc2phi! That is some great growth.

The service work is demanding and I do not recommend hiring your wife, like I did. lol

Good Selling!

Lmao. You didn't think that was gonna be a disaster from the get-go? On the other hand, what are you supposed to do, hire a younger/middle aged chick who's good at talking? I'm sure your wife would love that. :D

First off CONGRATS ! ! ! that is fantastic growth in a short period of time . This brings up an interesting question for me. At what point do you hire a CSR ? I have heard in some P&C agencies that they hire a CSR for every $750k in annualized premium. I have seen where some here run solo to the one million mark or even 2 million ( I would have a nervous breakdown trying to do that ! ! ). I myself think that around the $850K mark is the sweet spot. What are the thoughts from the folks who own the P&C agencies about this ?

Thanks and to be honest I wish I did hire someone at the 850K mark. Now that it's much busier I would of rather had someone trained in here then now hiring and training while its busy.

Ins1822 I think my book is a bit different then yours, since mine is more city/standard business opposed to preferred which I assume you are. Basically my clientele can be needy little pricks.

What can I say, brutal honesty here.

She was with me when I started in the insurance business in 1986. She worked for a few years, then the kids came and she became full time mom. Four kids later, (and all college graduates) she is back. Went thru a few csr's in between. One in particular was hired by her looks, and it did not last! The last one got greedy, or I got cheap, or both. She was getting $50k/year salary and wanted more. Moved on and hired the wife. It's been two years now, and honestly most days it works great and some days I want to shoot myself!
