Since 9 out of 10 people fail in this business. I take it that most people in this forum are in the 10%. What is the best advice you can give me to be in the 10% that makes it.

Pick a product and become an expert on it before adding other products.

Think in terms of this being a career and building your own business. If all you want to do is "make money" apply for a job as a greeter at Walmart.

Learn to prospect, relying solely on purchased leads or hired telemarketers will break you financially before you begin making money.

Have the discipline to work at it like you would a real job, all day at least five days a week, six if you are just getting started.

Seek out people who sell what you want to specialize in who are successful and know how to sell it. Many offering "training" will only give you product knowledge. One can have all the product knowledge available but if they don't know how to use it, it does them no good.

Do not assign your commissions regardless of what you are promised. (There may be some exceptions but make sure you understand what you are signing and that it is in your best interest not theirs.)

The list goes on and on from there but that will give you a good starting point.

You are giving this forum too much credit. The members with the most posts tend to be those who failed so they spend their time posting since they have no clients to see.

I think you're off on this statement. Many have more posts because they discovered this forum before a lot of us. You'll see many that have 2008 or earlier join dates. Many have years of experience and are willing to share, via posting and phone conversations, with us younger agents. This will ease the learning curve dramaticly. Spend a little more time on here and you will learn to appreciate the senior forum members and their knowledge in each field.
Have a great weekend everybody!!

Find your niche! Read everything you can put your hands on. A lot of this business it trial and error and not giving up.

You will have to fail many times before you figure out what will work.

Make sure to learn to prospect.

Get out there and see the people!

Interesting observation.

And you have learned all of that since you joined this month? Amazing! ! ! ! !

If that is the case why are you still here since those like me really have nothing of value to offer?

You are obviously much more astute than the "average insurance agent". Please share your pearls of wisdom with us oh great one so we can also benefit from your years of knowledge and success in this industry. We are all waiting and hanging on your every word.

I will bet you that you are wrong. I bet that most of the gurus have sold more apps than the avg insurance agent.

Some people work smarter and not harder.

Mark, he is talking about "you". You have almost as many posts as I do. Does that mean that you are almost as worthless than I am? :twitchy:

Rick and Somarco must be some of the most worthless agents on this forum.

Mark although the poster you quoted was too general in his statement, he certainly does have a point.

Top agents who are making six figures a year, those kinds of brokers there are very few of those on any kind of message board.
