How do I become an independent agent?

I am inching closer to State Farm agency. I have no insurance experience but do have sales experience and feel confident I will be selected to open a SF Agency. Is it typical for State Farmer's to hire L&H specialists like Sagamore? How is the pay typically structured?

Thanks!

I work with a GA here in WI that does business in 25 states. There is no non-compete and all business you write is yours. We pool our volume to get better contracts, usually in commissions or getting advanced. He does supply some leads if you work, but most of the training would be done on the phone or web conferencing. I have been bringing on agents slowly and I would need to get licensed in PA to bring you on board if your interested. Basically you would get 20% with most companies except for BCBS and WPS. GR & American Community you get 9 months advance and Assurant you get 12 months. With the advances your start up time gets cut. Two of my agents that just came on board made about $4000 each their first three months (each month). It took about 5 weeks for them to get paid their first check. Email me when you can. I just found this site myself today.
