I am currently contracted with two Med Supp companies is this enough? if not how many and why? Who are the best MA to contract with before open enroll? (in GA)

:err:

It depends on what state you are in and what companies you are contracted with.

There are only few companies that are competitive across the country. Next year that could change.

I typically have the top three or four in my areas. One or two will never have the best rates for everyone. One company may have great supp rates for T65's, but suck for older clients. Plus different companies have different underwriting standards. I've had to go to my 2nd or 3rd string carriers due to health conditions.. but I made the sale.

Sorry Torri, I didn't see the "(GA)" at the end of your post.

Gordon makes an excellent point. I also have experienced the same thing and license with several for that reason.

I would suggest you look at United of Omaha, Gerber, Woodmen, New Era and Family life. They appear to be the most competitive. Look at the premiums for different age ranges, sometimes that makes a difference.

I would think if you have those five you would be in pretty good shape. I don't have contracts for New Era or Family life but I do for MOO, Woodmen and Gerber.

If I can help give me a call.

I am looking for some good med sups in SC, do you know if any of the above require a life license? I know most people have both, but being new to the industry I wanted to focus on one area at a time and skipped my life exam.

Thank you in advance, and also thank you for your contributions to this site. I feel like I've gained years of experience over the past 12 hrs.

I believe you may find Gerber to be the most competitive. MOO is always good if for no other reason than the underwriting on Plan N. They appear to be a couple of dollars more than Gerber in the area I looked in.

Family Life and American Continental are close to the above two. AARP does not appear to be a player in SC.

Call me if you would like to discuss it further, I have excellent contracts for Gerber and MOO.

Family life has the best rates with the 2 policy discount if both are on med supps.

MOO also has a discount if both have Med Supps with MOO.

Does Family Life give the discount regardless if one has a Med Supp with a different company?

MOO in Missouri gives the discount, 12%, if there is another person living in the house whether or not they have a Med Supp. It makes them very competitive here.

They both have to have Family life. I will look into the MOO discount for SC, I may have missed that.

The discount is 7% if both have a United of Omaha policy. They don't have to take it at the same time. If the husband has had a policy for ten years and his wife signs up today then the discount will apply to both of their policies.

United of Omaha is the only MOO company that offers the discount, it is not offered on United World or Mutual of Omaha policies.
