Just curious how much a good personal lines P&C producer actually produce in a year. I've seen some numbers on the forums about commercial, but couldn't find anything on personal. For example, is $60k a year good (agency commission) for a beginner? What would you expect someone to bring in if they were experienced?

Depend if they get free leads or they have to produce their own leads. Good network, good referral, and more..

I would say if anything your compensation isn't necessarily based purely on the dollar amount but how your compensation is tied into the type of agency you are in.

For instance, if your agency is a churn-and-burn agency, your compensation plan should be largely based on new production with little to no renewal business commission. You should also never be touching the client for servicing again (because you're not getting paid to do that...)

Conversely, if your agency wants you to build a quality book of business your main focus should be relationship building with centers of influence, and you should become a pro at asking for referrals. This also includes both modestly high new and renewal commissions, as well more pro-active management of existing clients servicing and claims management.

The way you are compensated should dictate the way you write business, and the agency should set up the infrastructure such as for your success.
