How to find paid off homes in the area

Hi everyone,

I have tried a bunch of search terms on Google to try and find some sort of a "list" of paid off homes in a specified area so I can do some marketing via snail mail...I cannot for the love of life find any way of getting a list of paid off homes...does anyone have any ideas?

Seems to me the tax records show if there is a lien against the property. That might be a start.

Just curious, why are you looking for 100% equity homes?

You will want to check with the Recorder's office in the county that you wish to mail. They should be able to help you or point you in the right direction.

The main piece of data that indicate this would be a mtg release, however these are also filed when a property is refinanced too.

Another indicator that you may wish to look for is many state have credit for those over 65 years old. Not that everyone over that age house is paid off, but that will be the majority of them.

You have to refine your question. Most registries with the counties are online now. Some for a subscription fee. Some for free. Some have look-up for free but printing is disabled. Also, each record needs to be looked at to find the name of the person who has the mortgage lien that is being discharged, and then you need to look at the next record which involves reading a scanned copy of the document. So to answer your question of whether this can be accomplished without going to the office, the answer is often yes these days.

If you are expecting to just do an online search and have list of names generated rather than going record by record then that is a whole different question and exercise.

This is all public record if someone is compiling. If you are looking for a region specific try the county.

I busted my neighbor who said he paid cash for his home - LIAR!!! He has a lien on the tax record - for how much I have no idea, nor do I care. That's what you get for trying to be the big talker.

What you need is HELP... in finding what you are looking for. I find that the best way to obtain that rare commodity at a county courthouse is to approach the counter slowly, kind of sheepishly or looking like you are lost, speak slowly and ask your question...

Now you could just call them on the phone and have them tell you there is no way to obtain that info easily... OR you could re-read the first para, implement the act, and obtain the data you are seeking.

No doubt the county is online, but they are not set-up for a search of that info. You need someone who knows the system inside and out, and that is usually the gal who has been there since dropping out the 3rd grade... and she ain't real happy about being there, either... hence, approach the counter slowly.

You can target by county, state, zip, etc..
