Humana Will Compete for Our In-force Clients

Those of you who have several Humana clients would be wise to print or download all their coverage and contact info from the Humana Workbench ASAP. With Humana's newly found predator mindset, the online data for your pre-2014 clients could suddenly be removed.

I've already done that for each company I have represented now or in the past, it's the only way to have a chance to protect your own interests in this world of predatory insurance companies.

I'm still amazed that Humana is going to pull this crap, I guess the 2% renewal commission they will no longer have to pay on the policies they steal from agents will make a big difference in their bottom line.:skeptical:

Good points.........we'll see how many I lose back to them

Loving it, Yagents! They will steal exactly zero of yours because of the sound advice you give your clients and the respect your clients have for that advice. Not every agent can reach every client in 19 days over Thanksgiving holidays, though!

I hope they don't think stealing the 2% renewal commission is worth losing the agent community.

My Humana rep is still wet-behind-the-ears.
But SAYS to expect an average of 30% rate increases in 2015 (over 2014 rates) in Texas.

Who'll WANT to stay with Humana if this is the case?

Humana was not a player in Northeastern Ohio last year with their ACA plans. I'm guessing they won't be again this year. This however has me a bit disturbed.
I was thinking of offering their Medicare Advantage product line next year but after hearing this I can see them doing the same thing eventually to their other lines as well. Guess I won't be writing much Humana business in the future.

It's "self-preservation" mode. Agents always are the first targets when internal troubles brew. The news about Humana in general has trended more negative since the start of this year. One of the most recent:

"The investment research firm's "BBB" rating suggests that the company (Humana) is a moderate default risk. They also gave their stock a two star rating."

Ref: Humana Receives BBB Credit Rating (HUM) - Intercooler

A smart investor could use this forum as a guide for what health/life insurance stocks to stay away from. When the insurer gets so desperate that it wants the agent's 2% renewal.. "sell sell sell!".

Humana has joined Florida Blue on my permanent 'Special List'-of course, I pronounce 'special' slightly differently when not posting in a public forum, there aren't as many letters in that version.

humana accidentally dropped rate increases into my broker portal on aca business for the hmo in the Austin tx area... 22-25%.... they have since pulled the increase report off my portal but not before the spread sheet was downloaded
