Hundreds of thousands may lose Internet in July

For some computer users, a few mouse clicks could mean the difference between staying online and losing Internet connections this summer.Unknown to most of them, their problem began when international hackers ran an online advertising scam to take control of infected computers around the world. In a highly unusual response, the FBI set up a safety net months ago using government computers to prevent Internet disruptions for those infected users. But that system is to be shut down.
The FBI is encouraging users to visit a website run by its security partner, DCWG | DNS Changer Working Group, that will inform them whether they're affected and explain how to fix the problem. After July 9, infected computers won't be able to connect to the Internet.

Another reason to have a Mac.

Still, you should be concerned. Safari was ranked as one of the most vulnerable browsers this year and it seems like hackers are starting to notice the popularity of OS X based systems. Shoot, I have 7 macs and have yet to get a single virus on one of them. I use chrome mostly but I think other exploits will be utilized.

Warning as another Mac Trojan virus discovered | Information, Gadgets, Mobile Phones News & Reviews | News.com.au

An online security company has found another virus that has been infecting the Apple computers via a Java plug-in, spreading across computers when people open email messages with links directing them to malware.
The virus is the second to be discovered in a week, after news earlier that more than 650,000 Mac computers had been infected with a Trojan virus known as "Flashback".

There are many forms and versions of this malicious software and no utility can effectively detect and remove all versions of this software from all operating systems. CenturyLink recommends Norton Power Eraser (NPE) as a utility, which may be effective in detecting and eradicating this malware on the Windows operating systems.
