Hundreds of Thousands May Lose Internet in July

That site is probably a ploy to search the public's machines. Oh....I forgot, Google already has that covered.

as an aside, I read where many unix based machines currently are infected frequently from going online but are still functioning so detection is going unnoticed. Any confirmation?

DNSChanger was just a really
big one. FBI contacted us about a few infected machines that they wanted
us to leave online so that they could watch their behavior in an attempt
to infiltrate their command and control network.

This is really, really old news, but it's an interesting spin these
folks are putting on it. I'd look at it as "if you've got 2-3 year old
malware on your machine and you've been relying on the government being
in control of it rather than the bad guys, it might be a good time to
get some better antivirus tools..."

The feds aren't "cutting off" anyone's internet. They're just not going
to continue to support old infrastructure they set up to help catch the
bad guys and give people time to clean up their infections. Anyone who
"loses their internet access" can get it back by just removing the
malware or using a different computer.

Wow...this is scary..how could this kind of stuff happen? Don't answer I know how.....man just make me mad!!!

It's just your typical virus stuff. If you're really creeped out by it then you can backup your files, wipe your drive, reinstall everything, and restore your files... or you can go buy a Mac :)

Alright Smarty Pants, I already back up all my files and I have a Mac....Some of you folks crack me up in this forum. And I pay good money to make sure that I have an:D updated anti virus so....Hope all goes well in July!!

Funny story: My brother-in-law was having issues with a virus so he bought what was allegedly the best anti-virus software available. Installed it, ran it, then it killed windows on him.
