Hurricane Sandy and Physical Damage & Lack of Exclusions

RBA, I understand that in the coastal areas.... But 600-700 miles inland?

I am on the MD eastern shore. This storm was 900 miles wide. It has affected a huge amount of area from the Carolina's to NY...not just the coast either. There are flooding issues in places that have never seen water. Bottom line carriers are doing what they should be doing moving every single resource that they have to claims and customer service.

I do understand what you are saying about the moratoriums but this is the time for carriers to step up and do what people pay premiums for.

yeah there are water back up from sewers. there wasnt even rain yet.

my house and everyone in the area got 5 ft of water. all the cars and basement were submerged from water back up.

caught everyone off guard. no power and pitch black, didnt see the water creep up from drains.

now to sit at the office waiting for everyone to file claims. and try to fight flood vs water back up etc...

iiinyc, if the sewer line backed up from the toilets or drains in the basement floor. Install a back flow valve on your sewer line. I did that for my ex-wife condo, a couple years ago she would get sewer water back up in her basement. I jack hammered the floor, found the main pipe, and put the back flow valve on it. It's more bull work, than skill. You can do it by digging on the outside, but i choose to do it, away from prying eyes. The town may not let you do it. Water in the basement is one thing, but the neighbors turds floating in your basement is something you don't want to experience.

yeah, i talked to a few contractors they told me to install one one way valve thing to stop the backup. but told me i need to dig deep with jack hammer, once is enough for me.
