I Have a Stupid Question…….

Just call yourself an "Independent Insurance Agent"...if in fact you are independent.

This is all you need. In my experience, when I call myself an "Agent" people think I work for NYL or something. When I call myself a "Broker" they automatically assume I charge extra consultation fees. "Independent Agent" either gets the message across perfectly or gets them to ask "What do you mean by 'independent' agent?" I've got no aversion to potential clients asking for more information about what I do.

I have seen those and others as bad.

"Independent Agent" is the best, IMHO.

I also like Frank's _ "Your Insurance Agent". When I started (dark ages) there were less regs. so people called themselves Planners, advisors, experts and all kinds of crap, to hide the fact that they did Insurance. most of those people went the way of the junk bonds. OK , bad analogy.:1frown: WhenI leave a message on a clients phone I say this is Wino Blues, your Insurance Guy or some times Insurance Man depending on the client. If I used "Managing Member" I might get some funny looks. Or a date.

So here are a few I have seen... let me know what else you guys have seen. Princpal Agent, Managing Agent, Owner/Broker, Managing Member, Licensed Agent
