I Just Got Rolled

Just wait...you will. It doesn't matter what you do you can do everything right and still have someone change their mind. If I get a signed cancelation from another agent faxed to me signed by the customer I usually call the customer to see exactly why? I have saved many of these accounts...I have actually started a few fights with husbands and wives that one spouse had no idea that the other had done this at all.

I think you just like to argue with people dude, whatever anyone posts, you have to reply against it.

I do what I do, you do what you do, I really dont give a crap what you do.

I OWN my own agency and will run it as I chose too.

You think you are the only person on here who OWNs their own agency? You just can't handle people that disagree with you.

It is a great idea to have people sign a cancel and fax in for them we have done it for years! It won't stop someone every once in awhile from changing their mind. DUDE!

For this reason, I do not want my clients even talking to the old agent. I have a auto cancellation form and a home cancellation form. I have the client sign it, I fill in their name and address and policy number and I myself fax it to the old agent.

I tell the client we want to make this as easy for them as possible and they like that. I also tell them I do this for them because I require a signature or an email to cancel,

I havent ever been Rick Rolled since I started doing this.

That is a very good strategy.

One of my producers got rolled today! We had a customer that has had insurance here for 3 years. About a week ago she called and said that her premium was to high and wanted to take her daughter off of the policy. The producer explained that since she was in the household and was a regular driver of the car that we couldn't remove her but we could exclude her. She said that we couldn't exclude her since her daughter needs to drive the car. (EXACTLY) So we explained to her that is why the premium is high because of the young driver with a claim...that's right daughter had a claim a year ago.

So long story short...she calls back in today to cancel her policy and says that she has gotten a quote with state farm for 1/2 of what she is paying now. Guess what...new carrier isn't listing the daughter...she said oh my daughter doesn't live with me anymore...(right!) And if you can take her off my policy I would rather keep the policy with you...I told her I hope her daughter doesn't HAVE another claim now that she has not disclosed her as an operator of the car on her new policy...and GOOD LUCK!

That's OK…people like this are not even worth having…and she will get what is coming to her. But it goes to show even when you do things the right way...you still will loose policies and get rolled!

That wasn't rolled that was a customer's own greed and stupidity.

Desert boy, I do the same as you. Have clients sign an authorization to cancel policy form. However, a majority of the time, the prior carrier refuses to cancel policy until talking directly to the client.

Insuranceman, people like that irritate the hell out of me. Kudos to you for sticking to your guns and letting that pain walk. I'd love to call those people thieves to their faces....but that would be a tad unprofessional.
