23 years ago tonight I kissed my three youngest good night. Probably talked or text the other two. Not knowing the world was about to change. Forever.

23 years ago tonight I kissed my three youngest good night. Probably talked or text the other two. Not knowing the world was about to change. Forever.

My dad passed away 10 days earlier on 9/1/11. He had ALS, but it happened so fast it was still a shock. Then 9/11 happened. My entire world was upside down for a while. My dad was a former Marine, the living textbook illustration of “Once a Marine….”, and intensely patriotic. It would have broken his heart.
