I Really Want to Get into the Annuity Market, but Have Reservations...

Here we go again comparing an FIA to an actual stock or an index. Not what it is guys. It's better than a CD in about 5 ways but that's where it ends. I love FIAs but, again, square peg, round hole. It has to fit.

Happens all the time. Too many people use fear to sell FIA's. "The market isn't safe. You could lose all of your money, etc."

They can be sold based on their own merits without having to try and scare people. My typical FIA client is a conservative investor who is approaching retirement or already retired. And they generally are as interested in the income features as they are the safety.

I did say my risk propensity was extremely conservative and for me I do not trust the market And that I would rather have smaller returns with guarantees I love the extra features you can get with an fia. I never said the market wasn't safe but I don't think that some one who is aprroaching retirement needs to be all in A well balanced portfolio based on their risk tolerance is the best win

I understand that's YOUR risk propensity. My initial comment was to you claiming the market has been down 50% of the time over the last 20 years. That isn't true. So I'm just wondering if that means that's what you are telling potential clients during your presentation? If you aren't then great. If you are, then you are being disingenuous.

I agree, a well balanced portfolio is key and a FIA can be part of that portfolio. However, we all know agents out there trying to fit everyone into a FIA. And they use scare tactics to do it. I believe the FIA can be sold on its own merits without having to resort to fear tactics.

I believe in the merits of the product and do not cookie cutter our clients we offer solutions to clients that want to avoid risk at older ages That was my personal feelings on my retirement and I did say approximately or about 50% I was trying to go off the top of my heads thinking always a bad idea. I did count a zero gain as down 7 out of 20 and yes that was an over estimate. Personally still have a hard time with the market as the last 12 years have been a very challenging roller coaster We show clients what the product has done these are the benefits If it is something they are interested in great. If not that's fine. I never have a client go all in either I believe in having a good resource of liquidity

Oh!- It's a awesome post. I really interested in this topics and my friends also. I must shear this with my friends.

Why not use an IUL, max fund it over 5 years with minimum DB. An IUL will protect the principal, no market risk, tax free income. Much better than a VA
