Hello I have never used a forum and I was hoping to get the best advice. I was recently in a car accident that I was not at fault. The other driver and I both have the same ins company. I have not only full coverage with a $500 deductible but I am also an "uninsured motorist." The other party has vehicles covered by the ins company BUT not the one he hit me with. I recall them mentioning that he was also an uninsured motorist (not positive though.) But I believe that is neither here nor there because as I understood that the uninsured motorist meant that if you were in an accident in any vehicle. I will give a hypothetical scenario: lets say I was at fault of I wasn't at fault and I was out wasnt driving the vehicle on the policy(even though I was.) And the insurance adjuster does a 20 minute inspection comes back to me and said there was a $510 of damage and then tries to hand me a $10 check. Now I was hit very hard. The car is out of alignment and it was out of fluid in the radiator reservoir and a mechanic had the damage at a lot more. But once again I am using some of this as hypothetical and some is truth. Now let's say that the damage was ONLY $510. Lets pretend. Well since I am an uninsured motorist I was under the impression that my deductible didn't even come into play. I believe that my car needs to get 3 estimates and if the other drivers ins (through the same company)for done reason doesn't pay. Shouldnt I receive a check for the correct amount of damage without having to use any of the $500 deductible. Please help. I am really getting shafted and I need some advice PLEASE???
