I have been I guess you can call a "broker" with great American for a year now and I decided that I wanted to go completely indy. I talked to Frank and it seems the one problem is it might be hard to get "released" from my appointments with the current carriers I have. I spoke to my manager and he said they would not hold my contracts and if I left and I should be cleared in a few weeks.

Sounds good, maybe not? Some companies like MoO are going to not let me write business for 6 months after being released from my original GA. And, MoO has excellent rates for Med supps in FL. I have no idea what AARP's med supp policy is on this and I really need them here too in FL.

My next problem is trying to find out where to get appointed with all these companies at. Frank can help me out with a few but I need to find out about FE, annuities, LTCi, annuities and individual health. I looked at Health choice one for the health side but I need better options for FE. Right now I use great american and Royal neighbors but I might have to wait to sell those again too! I'm not even sure.....all I know this is a more of a pain in the ass then I thought it would be. :1mad:

HCO is a great choice for your individual health contracts.

There are other good Carriers for FE, but that just depends upon what state(s) you are located in and/or selling. It also varies according to your own preferences of what kinds of products you want to offer...companies like Foresters, UHL, Forethought, Lincoln Heritage, Baltimore, Monumental, Assurity...the list goes on and on and can be daunting to figure out on your own.

I would suggest finding an MGA or IMO you feel comfortable working with and will guide you on what Carriers will work best for you and your clients, provide training, marketing support and underwriting assistance as needed.

I already know I like royal neighbors for here in FL for FE. Ive also heard that colorado something is good for FE but im not sure if they are available here in FL. I know I wouldn't mind sticking with Genworth and West coast for Term/UL but I am currently appointed wiith them right now so hopefully they don't have a 6month waiting period. I think Lincoln has the money guard product that I like. The problem is just finding who carries all these.

Oh, I am located and sell in FL

I've discovered that there is nothing that is truly "easy" about insurance. It's just that some things are easier than others, I have always found all aspects of it are "work".

But, I have never found anything that was financially rewarding that didn't have various aspects of "work" to it.

I try to "ease the pain" as much as possible for agents who I am working with.

Chazm ...

There are sooooo many companies. Just find another med sup with great greats in your area. MOO isn't the only one and I doubt even the cheapest. If you like their e app, then try Loyal American ... I used to know a site that broke down Med Sup prices in an area. Does anyone know which one that was? ... I know the TX Dept of Insurance shows a price range for companies. Maybe FL does this? ... I really liked the high deductible J that few companies offer. It's really cheap and this opens up your FE cross sale.

RNA is okay but there a lot better companies to choose from.

West Coast and Genworth are good, but you could go with Transamerica and North American or Ohio National or whatever ....

Man, there are tons of options ...

Don't stress it.

If you want to go Independent, start contracting now with other companies and when appointed, jump ship ... then, in 6 months, if you really want to write those companies, get reappointed at a higher contract with someone else (if you they won't release you, that is).

Just a thought!!

Genworth, West Coast and TA allow duel contracting.
