ICEP vs IEP

Go ahead. Tell her about that damn unicorn.
Are you trying to tell me that decades long SEPs are not normal?

But yeah, the unicorn is doing great. Had to patch the roof on the barn this past weekend, didn't want it's wings getting getting wet and cold. Unicorns get sick easy ya know!

thanks - in this case the member paid the part b premiums due, and was issued a new card with a Part B date of 2/1/2025. The MAPD plan year expired 12/31, and the plan is not accepting this as either a IEP or ICEP. They are looking for a SEP which there is none.

What carrier is declining a valid EP? Do they not know the rule changed 01/01/2025?

where do you live that there is no SEP available??
That's history 4/1 a huge lose . Last week alone I knocked out 6 phone sold 2/1 oep plans with dst for 3/1 . Between dst and lis gone I bet that's 65% plus of mapd vol from 4/1 to 9/30 the last few yrs

yup. but he could still use it for his current situation.

But with DST gone, look like you'll be out of business soon. Churn and burn hacks like yourself deserve to be cut out.

Agreed.

But even before the change a new part B date overrides all SEPs making an SEP unnecessary.

With a new part B they have 90 days regardless if it's MA or OM.

It's not a Medicare problem. It's a carrier problem.

This is not accurate. When you delay Part B, you do not get 90 days after Part B effective date for ICEP like you would when turning 65. Prior to 1/1/2025, you could not use ICEP after Part B start date. Now, the new rule effective 2025 gives them 2 extra months beyond Part B start date. When I worked for my last carrier, I would have at least one broker get an app denied per month for putting "New to Medicare/ICEP" as election code when it was past Part B start date (when delaying Part B).

This is the correct answer . In 2025 they changed it to 60 days after Part B start date. Having to get the app in before part B started was the craziest rule. Many people got their part B approval date AFTER part B had officially started

Go back and read the Op's post #5. We're not talking about delaying B or ICEPs. In his case it was a reinstatement with a new Part B effective date.
