As most of you know, Illinois is magnet for corruption and those who want to cheat "the system". The state's Medicaid Insurance program is scheduled to be expanded in 2014, but due to the immense amount of fraud, that may be postponed.

"Illinois has removed from its Medicaid rolls this year more than 60,000 people who didn't qualify for the government benefit. That's an astonishing number, and it appears there are still many people getting benefits who don't qualify. By the end of this year, as many as 300,000 individuals could be removed from the program."

Even though fraud is rampant in Illinois, Governor Quinn, like many other governors, found the offer from the U.S. Government too goo to refuse. He signed the 2014 Medicaid expansion bill into law today.

Actually, this will greatly help a couple of my clients whose over age 30 adult "children" have moved back home, are unemployed and have medical conditions.

Lots of adult Gang Members and Pimps will be enrolling too. But you have to take the good with the bad, I suppose.

I can't believe it wasn't a done deal before today.

The State Legislature spent so much time arguing over items, like Pension Reform, during this past session, that Medicaid Expansion went to the back burner. They barely got the vote completed to accept Washington's $$$ for the expansion before adjourning for the Summer this past Friday. Quinn signed it first thing this morning, before HHS/Washington lost their patience and decided to send Illinois's $4.6 BILLION dollar allotment someplace else!

This Illinois Doctor's Group seems to be pretty happy about all the new money that will come flowing into the state and ultimately their practices/businesses.

Until that money dries up after 7 or 8 years (whatever amount of time it is). Then we're back on the hook for more unfunded liabilities - woo hoo!

According to this 1-4-2014 article, the money may dry up faster than expected.
Medicaid deal is regrettable | SaukValley.com

The company that was hired by the state to root out those who are defrauding Illinois Medicaid of many millions of dollars, has been fired. The governor that we elected to protect our best interests, caved to pressure from the public employee union that's protecting the incompetents who allowed this massive fraud.

Like the article says, I think Illinois may be the first State ever to declare bankruptcy.

I think you may be right. IL is in bad shape.

As bad as things are in Illinois, they're about to get worse. The Federal Government has notified the state to "get ready" for at least 61,000 new Medicaid applications. The apps that were hung-up on a Healthcare.gov server in Langley, Virginia due to a technical glitch, are about to flood into Illinois for processing.

Does anyone know where to find an online directory of Medicaid providers? I can't find one and the website with the ridiculous name of www.GetCoveredIllinois.org has no contact phone numbers listed.

Important Illinois Medicaid Update:

From: Illinois deals with Medicaid application backlogs - Chicago Tribune

1. Almost 400,000 Illinois residents have applied for Medicaid this year.
(State says it was "caught off guard". Illinois..land of high unemployment, low-wage earners, and a GIVE ME BENEFITS mindsets, was caught off-guard by the high Medicaid enrollment numbers?!?!)
2. The state is WAY behind on processing the applications
3. The number of physicians accepting Medicaid continue to dwindle.
4. There are roughly 35 physicians for all of Chicago proper, according to:
Search Link: Doctors in 60606 : Reviews & Ratings
5. Many of these physicians and hospital facilities have not yet received
payment from Medicaid for services rendered 6 months ago.
6. And..of course there's the ongoing FRAUD subject that started this thread.
