Hi all! Im 25 and just got my p&c license here in NY. I am currently working for an exclusive allstate agent who signed me up and paid for my licensing class. ... I started working for her july 2009, making $10/hr. I have now had my license for a month along with my appointment from allstate after completing their binding authority... I am still making the same 10/hr and have'nt seen commission on the couple policies i have written since passing my state test. HOW DO YOUNG AGENTS START OFF? .. is Health insurance something i should xpect to get from my employer?... when do i address my salary concerns.. and where do i even start negotiating a salary and commission scale??

---Any advice you have for somebody just starting out is greatly appreciated! Thank You

Your "street value" just went up as a licensed agent. Maybe you should be asking your boss what you need to do to make more $$ now that you are licensed. Shouldn't be too complicated, the advice you'll get on this place will be that you are now a budding Donald Trump ;) You probably aren't:1wink:

Congratulations, by the way, and good luck..I was licensed at age 24(23yrs ago) so I can say "first hand" you've got a world of possibilities.
