how did they drive traffic to their sites mark?

The way I still do it today.

It is on my business cards,emails, postcards, mailers, letterhead, side of my car and I tell people about it.


I do try and stick my link on many different website. But being on top of google is not what it is all about. If your website sucks, they wont stay on it. If the blogs that you make for seo are boring, who cares. They wont stay and read them.

Of course...being on top helps. Good writing is an absolute must, but if you can't do it yourself, you can hire someone that speaks and writes fluent English.

Isn't it true that after all the malarkey about meta tags, keywords, backlinks it's ultimately up to Google to decided where you rank? Because from listening to some of these SEO "experts" seemingly ANYONE can get their site to page one. And guess what, it's actually easy.

Who knew.

In fact, SEO is easy enough that most of these "experts" I talk to are making hundreds of thousands (dare I say millions) as year from their own sites. Oh....wait

Would anyone here be amazed to know that you can be 1st position on Google with nothing more than a lot of great relevant content? No "submitting sitemaps", directory submissions, bs backlinks or anything! Just good old fashioned content!

Nothing trumps great content...but if someone else has great content on the same subjects, it becomes that much more important to have the sitemaps, links, proper tags, etc. if you want to overtake them.

In fact...with rotten content and no linking...you can get to the top position.

Try "bizarre chunks of fecal nutrition" or something like that.
