Independent Sub Agent with Several Agencies?

Is it possible to work for several agencies both captive and non captive as an independent contractor? What I was thinking was to offer the best priced p&c insurance to a client through a self made network of agents. So I would quote them a price, but the actual agent would pay me a one time comission on and would service the policy. I would just be the intial contact person.

Isn't there something called a non-compete clause? If the agent is smart they will make it so you can't work for mutlitple agencies in the contract... You would have to open a lead operation in my humble opinion just to protect yourself legally. Good luck

... Intelligence is not the problem here. It's experience in dealing with dishonest agents taking advantage of sub-producers. Be careful working under agents all you subs out there more times than not you gonna get screwed. So says the head of the PIA insurance division anyways.
