I don't normally offer stand alone dental, but this Dominion Dental seems to be an ok product for my clients that insist on buying dental insurance. Anyone heard of them, or have any thoughts (uh oh) on stand alone dental.

I haven't written any business with them in quite a while. They are O.K., basically dental discount plans. However, they do have dental PPO and group plans if I remember correctly. (That is for PA.)

Yeah, thats the dominion dental we're using. We've got the group ppo set up. Still a $1000 annual max. Based on the cost v. benefits, I don't know how much of this i'll be selling.

I'm with Somarco. If a client asks for Orthodontia I tell them to open a savings account and put the money in there. In the end they'll have more to spend then with insurance.

California Blue Cross came out with a plan about a year ago to address this issue. It is called "Smilenet" and is simply a discount arrangement where the participating providers (PPO) are bound to accept the negotiated fee rate for all dental services. No insurance component to the plan, simply access to the NFR on all services. Cost about $8 a month for singles and $12 for families or couples.
