Inflating Income to Get Help...

Really, doesn't stated income all come out in the wash? Not your job as an agent to worry over what they've stated for income. Take the app, move on, OR don't take the app. It all comes out in the tax return and there is a whole set of people whose jobs are verifying information on these applications. Again, it is not the agent's job to worry this. We have enough to worry about as it is.

From a macro perspective, certainly. I do my best to inform as much as possible to avoid problems on the back end. Even though I wouldn't be culpable, I don't want to have to face accusations. We have a mailing going out this week to everyone who has signed up explaining subsidy calculation, clawback provisions, etc. just to cover all the bases. You can't be too careful when getting in bed with government programs

If they're filling out the application, you have no issue, If you're filling out the application, Recap on a created page to have the client sign off on as they would be the only one to accuse you of anything.

I mean while I get it, you can be sued or accused by anybody for anything, you still are over worrying this, which I guess is fine if it helps you.

You do realize the insured can go in at any time and change the income levels and the subsidy adjusts. This isn't a one and done program. They can go either direction. It sorts out in the income tax wash.

Most of you guys are way too paranoid...and I thought I was paranoid...you guys are way over the top.

Yep, listen to the applicant. I don't question what they tell me but I do leave them with quite a few disclaimer's to think about. I watched one throw a cigarette out the other day as he was walking into office, I was so fortunate to be the agent to help and sign him up. He told me he did not smoke, who am I to question?
