Insurance companies don't like irresponsible or financially inept people, they tend to file more claims and fight the insurer more. They usually aren't profitable. She never drives my car, but then she almost never drives since she let her car slip into an inoperable state of repair, won't part with a dime for repairs even if I'm doing the work.
I've turned into that 'old' man who drive to the store and back. I work from home. I have both vehicles set to 1000 miles a year on the policy. I probably drive a little more than that but I haven't had an accident in like forever.
Good to know you tell little white lies. Insurers always like that
crappiest policy possible just to not be uninsured. 15/30/5
I'm assuming those are her limits, which are too low to even be legal in Oregon
They basically had to cancel my policy out of Cali and then I had to go through the approval process in Oregon.
What approval process? Like you had to quote and bind online? That's so easy a caveman could do it.
My 15 or so years with Geico seemed to matter not.
Correct.
the Ford gets like 35 mpg
No it doesn't
Anything I can do to reduce my rates?
There is, but nothing I can recommend for someone with your mentality of "Muah, I want cheap, shitty insurance". Maybe try 'The General', or Progressive? If you're lucky some newby at an independent agency might take a swing at you.
You could always sell your Escort, if you're only driving 1,000 miles a year, it's only saving you about $15 in gas annually.
where I live now is hella safer than the Bay Area, which is total insanity.
I would take your word for it, but I live in Oregon, so I know better.
There used to be a fantastic insurer here, Oregon Mutual, that was very cheap and provided excellent service.
Lol, they probably got tired of dealing with people like this guy
