Having read at least some of the threads regarding funeral preplanning, irrevocable funeral trusts, living wills, etc., I still want to get my head around using these products and understanding the cross-selling opportunities.

Who are the best companies that offer the trusts? Preplanning?

Is there a specific demographic for this product?

Are there phone scripts, pre-approach letters that can be used to reach out to this market?

Your feedback is appreciated.:)

55-79 years. My avg client is 68 years old. Unfortunately, I've heard that the entire state of Indiana has been dominated by a couple of agents. There's no one left to write...

Don't listen to him. Indiana is alive and kicking.

Funeral Trusts sold through funeral homes is the easier route as long as you want to be captive or semi-captive to a funeral home. Those agents make great money and a very cushy position IF they work hard and are with a good funeral home.

Funeral Trusts just sold by an agent who is not actually affiliated with a funeral home are a tougher way to go BUT if you have a connection with any financial advisors and/or an attorney that has clients who will do whatever they recommend that could be a gold-mine for you.

Just doing mailers/seminars/ etc. as an independent agent is a ROUGH way to sell funeral trusts. We all get spam about "making an extra $10,000 a month in our spare time" but that is just spam.

The companies to sell them through funeral homes are numerous. FOreThought, NGL, American Memorial, Homesteaders, FDLIC, CIncinnati Equitable, Unity, Investors Heritage, Lincoln Heritage (under a new name which I forget), Atlantic Coast, and a whole bunch more.

If you sell without a funeral home you are more limited to ForeThought, NGL, FDLIC and Unity. Indiana will limit the non-funeral home policies to $10,000 max too.

Feel free to call me if you want to talk in more detail. If you are near Evansville, IN I can also talk to you about a position available if you are serious about Funeral Trusts.
