IRS Form 1095-A

I have pulled up several via the back door on H.Sherpa or ACAExp and the 1095 is missing for 2015, found it for a couple, but there are going to be some issues. We have a blank one and the instructions saved on the server ready to mail out with instructions to "call the marketplace" for information to fill it out by hand.

New for this year is all of my Medicare and VA clients getting 1095b forms confusing the heck out of them.

I don't think tax forms have ever been available via back door. Only front door HC.gov account.

All OFF exchange clients should receive a 1095b form also......in practice.
Will ON exchange clients get a 1095b, or will the 1095 suffice?

(1095b shows proof of creditable coverage for IRS purposes to avoid individual responsibility penalty)

We received the below from BCBS last week:
=======================================
IRS Announces Reporting Delay; Reporting Q & A
The Affordable Care Act[1] requires health insurance issuers like BlueCross and self-funded health plans that provide minimum essential coverage (MEC) to report information to the Internal Revenue Service. Separately, the Affordable Care Act also requires all applicable large employers (ALEs) to report information to the IRS. In both cases, copies of the information reported must be provided to subscribers and/or full-time employees. Reporting for 2015 is required.[2]

Filing Delay
On Dec. 28, 2015, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) issued Notice 2016-4, which extends the due dates of the required filings for forms 1094-B/1095-B and 1094-C/1095-C filed in 2016 for the 2015 calendar year.[3] Originally, the deadline for reporting to the IRS was Feb. 29, 2016 if not filing electronically, or March 31, 2016 if filing electronically.[4] The new deadline is May 31, 2016 if not filing electronically, and June 30, 2016 if filing electronically.

The Notice also extends the time frame for furnishing copies of Forms 1095-B and/or 1095-C to subscribers and employees, as applicable. The original deadline for furnishing such statements was Feb. 1, 2016; the new deadline is March 31, 2016.

The IRS does not require filers to request an extension provided by the Notice. However, no additional extensions will be granted this year.

The Notice addresses the question of whether individuals must wait for their 1095-B and/or 1095-C prior to filing their tax return, and the IRS also created a webpage to answer questions from individuals regarding the forms. An excerpt from this webpage:
"14. Can I file my tax return if I have not received any or all of these forms?

"You do not have to wait for either Form 1095-B or 1095-C from your coverage provider or employer to file your individual income tax return. You can use other forms of documentation, in lieu of the Form 1095 information returns to prepare your tax return. Other forms of documentation that would provide proof of your insurance coverage include: insurance cards, explanation of benefits statements from your insurer, W-2 or payroll statements reflecting health insurance deductions, records of advance payments of the premium tax credit and other statements indicating that you, or a member of your family, had health care coverage.

"If you and your entire family were covered for the entire year, you may check the full-year coverage box on your return. If you or your family members did not have coverage for one or more months of the calendar year, you may claim an exemption or make an individual shared responsibility payment.
"You will not need to send the IRS proof of your health coverage. However, you should keep any documentation with your other tax records. This includes records of your family's employer-provided coverage, premiums paid, and type of coverage. "

Thanks, but that says nothing about 1095A that a person ON-exchange must have to square off with the gov'ment concerning the APTC received.

How did you accomplish this? I'm using Chrome and cannot access the message center via the agent facing HC.gov portal. Traditionally the 1095 form has been delivered there.

Good explanation......

Reporting health insurance at tax time will involve more paperwork | The Wichita Eagle

If I had health insurance in 2015, what should I expect at tax time?

If you had health insurance last year, you should receive either Form 1095-A, 1095-B or 1095-C.

Form 1095-A is a document sent to people who enrolled in health insurance through the marketplace, and it lists month-by-month information about the coverage. People can expect to receive this form by Feb. 1.

Form 1095-B is a document from health insurers sent to those they cover, providing similar information.

Form 1095-C is a document from certain employers sent to certain employees regarding what coverage was offered. It is typically sent when employers offer "self-insured coverage" to their employees, according to the IRS.

People can expect to receive either or both Forms 1095-B and 1095-C by March 31.

If you are expecting to receive Form 1095-A, the IRS recommends waiting until you receive the form to file. Otherwise, you don't have to wait until you receive a Form 1095-B or 1095-C to file your taxes.

You should not attach any of these forms to your tax return, as they are for informational purposes only.

I am not able to see any way to pull these via the agent entrance to an account. I've told people to call the Marketplace. I had one girl actually get hers today via mail, so it does look like they're going out.

1095b shows proof of creditable coverage for IRS purposes to avoid individual responsibility penalty

Are you suggesting people of Mcare age who are not on Mcare (or Obamacare) are subject to the penalty?

They are also stating that there will be a separate 1095A for every plan change. so if someone changed income or anything that stopped and started a plan, they will receive more than 1.
