Is FE only popular in certain parts of the country?

I've been looking into FE and have been going through troves of information in these forums. I've noticed that the business being written usually are from producers in places in southern and central states. And when I speak to anybody in my state, they say that Northern CA has potential but Southern CA isn't great due to market saturation. Is there any truth to this?


Or maybe it's just my way of not pulling the trigger and trying it out for myself. :embarrassed:
 
SoCal agent here. I don't think it's over saturation in SoCal or anywhere in California for that matter. I just think it's very tough any place where there's a high population due to people's attitudes. California has a TON of highly populated areas so it's just very hard for agents to make it here.

When I was buying 35 DM leads a week I rarely would run into another independent agent's policies. There was some Lincoln Heritage & American Income Life... but very few carriers that independent agents use.

True, but there are some areas better for FE than others.

I'm thinking the deep south.

My opinion only here. Of course its going to be easier in certain states and areas. Driving, religion, language spoken, competition, etc. are all factors.

Speak spanish or can work the hood ?

This is why for a long time fixed leads were not available in CA.

This made me think of a conversation I recently had with a new agent. He swore up and down that he had no chance in this business because his area was just too tough.

Ironically, he sold his leads to another agent who came to his backyard and sold several thousand dollars in a day and a half lol.

I'd venture to say that there's a highly successful FE agent in almost every market all across America (some of which are probably working with the most frowned upon companies in the industry). That's why I think perspective and mental fortitude are so critical to long term success in Final Expense.

I work mainly in Dallas, another highly populated area. Yes, it can be very different than working in a more rural setting. But I leave my home in the suburbs and make the hour or so trek into the city at least 3 days per week. Sometimes it's just knowing what part of town to work, and what marketing methods to use.

I used to live in East San Diego during my teen years, an area that would have been GREAT for FE sales. I know some parts of town have changed, but I'm positive I could move back there & still find plenty of people to sell. I might use a different marketing method than DM, though. I have to handle service matters from time to time for FE clients who moved to Cali, so I know they're there. Yes, it's probably tougher there than Shreveport or Biloxi, but the funeral homes are just as busy, which means we just have to find their future customers, right?
 
The odds of being first are generally slim and none. But there is almost always room for one more. The question is are you willing to do what it takes to succeed. Kind of cliche, but it is. If other people are doing it successfully, then so can you. The only question is will you? What are you going to do to stand out enough to succeed?
