Is It True?

Plan C supp...

I was talking about that, because G. Gordon was mentioning different plans being standardized... modernized..... it was confusing me. The I figured out he was talking about the plans E, H, I and J...being eliminated... well all I sell is a Plan C... generally, simply because that's the only one that New Era has....with the exception of A,B, and D (IN MY AREA!)..... other companies rates are much higher...

So, I'm talking about a Plan C, Med. Supp... not an advantage.

"EDIT>>>Do you live and work in an attained age state? "

By attained age... what I've studied that meant was... you pay based on your age.... so if that's what you're talking about.... then YES, that's how PA is (at least my neck of the woods.)

With the Medicare Advantage, it's different, but I'm sure you already know that.

You figured wrong. What I'm talking about is:
1. Anyone with an Open Enrollment of 2/1 to 5/1 such as T65s or others entering Medicare. Their OE runs out beyond the 6/1 date when the new "Modernized" medsupps start getting sold.
2. For those people mentioned I will suggest that they swap their pre-6/1 standardized plans for post-6/1 modernized plans. The reason for such advise is mentioned in earlier post.
3. I'm not specifically talking about folks on those plans that will be phased out.

Oh Ok... I see what you're talking about. Thaks for spelling it a little more plainly...;)

I understand the new plans will all include a hospice benefit.

Where can I read exactly what the hospice benefit is? I have talked to lots of families through the years that have used hospice (including me for my father) and it was always covered by Medicare. I don't ever hear of anyone paying for it.

Am I missing something?

I have the same question. Are the plans covering something that does not need covering?

It caused a bit of a head scratcher for me to, but I've not researched it to find an answer.

Maybe a bit of a cost shift from Medicare to the MedSupp plans...??? Dunno..

my understanding is that the modernized plans pay 5% of the hospice bill, plus some respite care. Not a lot of benefit in my estimate.

the real changes are the new plans that provide for client participation in the deductibles, etc.

Pertaining to med-supps....

It means the premium goes up as you get older, regardless of rate increases.

I work in Alabama some and it's an attained age state. Florida is not. If you buy at age 65 in Florida, your rate will always be based on the age 65 rate.
