Is It True?

I didn't want to look stupid by questioning G.Gordon, but it was my understanding that Hospice (as long as Meidcare approved it) was covered 100%...

When I spoke with Frank, several months back...He made me aware then of the changes... plans M and N.. so I knew to be looking for those. I've read them and I've learned that they are alot like the MA plans.... then I've heard some folks say that they are going to eliminate the MAPD plans all together due to the new M and N plans...

I don't know how true any of that is... but anyway..just play it by ear, and keep hanging in there, till one day I can be the super experts like ya'll ;)

Pertaining to med-supps....

It means the premium goes up as you get older, regardless of rate increases.

I work in Alabama some and it's an attained age state. Florida is not. If you buy at age 65 in Florida, your rate will always be based on the age 65 rate.

ok, then yes in my state... the premiums go up as you get older with a Med Supp!!!

From the 2010 Medicare & You handbook.....

For Hospice care.....

You(insured), pays.....

$0 for hospice care.

A copayment of up to $5 per prescription for outpatient prescription drugs for pain and symptom management.

5% of the Medicare-approved amount for inpatient respite care(short-term care given by another caregiver, so the usual caregiver can rest).

Note: Medicare doesn't cover room and board when you get hospice care in your home or another facility where you live(like a nursing home).

;) Thanks for the details.

There is no end to the MA/MAPD that is tied to the June 1, 2010 date, yet.

What talk is about is the end of them because of loss of value. A high deductable med sup that works like a sup and is accepted like a sup will most likely be a much more attractive option. The continued funding cuts to MA will also be a factor. In short, the MA won't be killed, but, they will die.

I haven't read it through and through... I've studied a lot out of it! wouldn't hurt to read it again though

Please tell me you've seen and hopefully read this booklet before? Not sure about New Era's application, but most others ask if they have been given this booklet.

I believe it's a requirement to give that booklet to every applicant.

That's what I've always been told and I have given that booklet to every applicant or prospective applicant I've ever met with.
