Is There a Future in Health Insurance Sales Anymore?

You're going to open up a pizza joint, however, the government just passed a new law. Problem is, the details haven't come out:

1. You know at a minimum you will make less money per pizza, although you don't know how much yet.

2. The government may make it illegal for you to sell pizza to 80% of your target market though a newly created government run pizza exchange in which they'll subsidize the cost. They may allow you to sell their exchange pizzas, but you're not sure yet.

With that information and not being in the pizza business right now, would you make the investment and open up a shop?

I wouldn't. It would be different if I already owned three pizza franchises, but I would be putting together a Plan B in case the pizza business was no longer profitable.

Bob: Glad you got a good laugh at yourself, but your post isnt funny. Sounds like you will be the only one left selling medical insurance. Good luck.

Question: are subs included in this "exchange" or are they exempt? What about carry-out Chinese?

The short answer: yes and no.

There will be a national mandate that everyone has to eat pizza for every meal and there will only be four topping choices (to make it less confusing for the public). Sorry to those of you who prefer having options and can read a menu. However, you will be able to pay a penalty and buy a sub or chinese in addition to the penalty.

The good news: if you like your current sub sandwhich, you can keep it. However, you can't order a new one or put any additional toppings on it, otherwise, it may no longer be grandfathered in. Also, what counts as grandfathered in will be whatever the hell the director of Pizza and Sauce Services deems appropriate. By the way, she has it out for sub and chinese shops.

Make sense? Clear as mud.

Man, I hope anchovies is one of 'em. Gettin' ready to send an email to my Congresswoman and Senators...

It's your lucky day, because there is little demand for them, they will be one of the four (similiar to the low deductible, comprehensive plans to be included in the exchange).

Also, it you are allergic to anchovies, there is a specific government run restaurant just for you where they import caviar to replace the anchovies. The extra cost is subsidized, so you won't be out any extra pocket costs (the Chinese said they would pay for it). In fact, the restaurant opened this week, although no one has heard anything about it and no one knows the location.
