It's Official! No Commission Paid On Exchange Policies After 2014

Aetna AND UnitedHealthOne just issued a joint statement (I'll provide the link) and others will certainly follow.

It reads (in part): "When state exchanges are enacted in 2014, no compensation will be paid to brokers marketing our individual health products. Instead, we will pay a one-time payment of $50 if the applicant signs a statement in advance of the application submitted that clearly states broker assisted them in purchasing the product. Only "Bronze" policies will be eligible for this payment. 4-1-10

I'm about to run a facebook post to all 500+ people I have on friends about how obama just vetoed the health care bill linked up to a rickroll video.. :)

Interesting.
I think I said this about a year ago. I didn't really think I'd be right. In fact, I said it so I could be proven wrong.

Any luck with the link?

Dan

P.S. I guess I'm glad I primarily focus on P&C. I'm also interested if this will apply to group, or if that will continue on a commission basis.

Well its good I dont use those two carriers....but if this is the trend, this sucks.

I wonder if Repubs are gonna campaign on repealing, and then give us the finger when they get back in congress??

Great, two of my main health carriers!
I already dont do much health insurance, but this will really put the nails in the coffin!
Not a huge surprise though.

And the republicans should campaign on amending the health bill, not repealing it.
Or if they push repeal, they need a viable & well communicated alternative!

Heres a question for everyone:
The republicans kept on saying that they had an alternative to obamacare; can anyone tell me exactly what it was???
I pay attention to politics much more than most, and I only know of one or two points of the republican plan.....
